You can lead a team, close the deal, solve problems specifically come to you for.

Then you get home, your partner makes one comment, and within minutes you’re reacting in a way you barely recognise.

You know how to handle pressure.

You know how to take responsibility.

When something isn’t working, you find a way through.

And yet this.

The relationship that matters more than any deal, promotion or business milestone somehow has you lying awake at 2am replaying a conversation you wish had gone differently.

You finish an argument and go upstairs, but the argument comes with you.

You replay what he said while answering emails.

You think about what you should have said while making dinner.

One of the children asks you something completely ordinary and you snap, then immediately know the anger started hours earlier and had nothing to do with them.

The next morning, you pull yourself together because that’s what you do.

Work gets the capable version of you.

The school WhatsApp gets the organised version.

Everyone else gets the woman who can handle things.

And somewhere underneath all of that, you’re thinking:

How can I be this cable everywhere else and feel so lost inside my own marriage?

Maybe nobody around you even knows.

The family photograph gets posted. Everyone sees a happy family. You know you barely spoke after it was taken.

And that gap between the life people see and the one you’re actually living is becoming harder to ignore.

But underneath the frustration, there is still a part of you that hasn’t accepted this as the relationship you have to settle for.

Because the relationship you want is hiding in ordinary mornings, when nobody is measuring the mood at breakfast and you catch your partner’s eye because being together feels good again.

You still believe that kind of relationship is possible.

You just don’t know how to create it from where you are now.

Sometimes one person deciding to begin changes what becomes possible next.

“We were one step away from separating. Marta, we are still together.”

“When I decided to start working with Marta, my husband and I were at a truly critical point in our relationship. We had reached a place where we had to answer one question: do we separate, or do we give our marriage one more real chance?

One of the things I didn’t expect at all was the change I saw in my husband. I never thought he would open up to coaching and begin looking at himself and our relationship from a different perspective.

But the biggest change wasn’t only in him. The way we started seeing each other changed.

Today, we have much more patience with each other. Instead of looking at one another through the lens of everything that happened in the past, we are learning to meet each other where we are today.

When I think about what would have happened if I hadn’t made the decision to begin this work, the answer is very simple:

We probably wouldn’t be together today.”

You haven’t been doing nothing

You’ve read the book.

You’ve tried giving each other space.

You’ve promised yourselves you’ll communicate differently next time.

You’ve deliberately sat down to “talk properly” and watched a conversation that was supposed to bring you closer turn into another two hours of explaining, defending and dragging old things back into the room.

Maybe you’ve already tried couples counselling.

Maybe things got better for a while so that you thought, finally we’re getting somewhere.

Then something tiny happens on a Thursday night.

A comment.

A tone.

A look.

And suddenly you’re both back inside something painfully familiar.

Different subject. Same dynamic.

That’s the part that is exhausting you now.

“We were one step away from separating. Marta, we are still together.”

You can’t keep trying another thing, getting hopeful for a few weeks, then finding yourselves right back in the same place.

You feel dismissed and push harder to be understood.

Your partner feels attacked and becomes defensive.

You hear the defensiveness as further proof that he isn’t listening.

Someone reaches backwards for evidence.

Someone withdraws.

And eventually you stop talking because there is nothing left to say that hasn’t already been said.

The silence brings temporary relief.

The pattern remains.

This is why “communicate better” can feel so maddening when you’ve already spent hours communicating.

More words don’t necessarily change anything when the same pattern keeps deciding what happens to them.

And this is where I see relationships differently.

I believe relationships are beautiful and full of possibility.

Your relationship isn’t something you need to learn to tolerate because somebody told you marriage is supposed to become hard.

And so much of what makes a relationship painful to live inside is what each person repeatedly brings into it.

The defensiveness.

The resentment that has been quietly collecting.

The need to prove your point.

The assumptions you make before your partner has finished speaking.

The old ways you learned to protect yourself.

The version of you who reacts before the person you actually want to be has had a chance to enter the conversation.

Those patterns can make a beautiful relationship painful to live inside.

And once you can see the pattern, you finally have something different to work with.

You cannot decide what your partner will do with your relationship

But you can stop making every next step dependent on them going first.

You can understand what happens inside you.

You can change what you bring into the dynamic.

You can become clearer about what you want, what you’re willing to create and what you are no longer willing to repeat.

That gives you somewhere to stand while you find out what becomes possible between you.

You may have very good reasons for wanting them to change.

They may have hurt you.

They may withdraw.

They may become angry.

They may have broken your trust.

They may refuse to communicate in the way you need.

Working on yourself does not erase their responsibility for what they bring into the relationship.

It means you stop waiting for somebody else to hand you your next move.

The work I do with your client start here.

What happens inside you when that familiar moment begins?

What do you assume?

What do you protect?

What do you repeat?

What are you bringing into the room before either of you has consciously decided where the conversation is going?

And what becomes possible when you can finally see it clearly enough to choose differently?

This is The Mirror Method.

Because when all your attention is on what your partner is doing, it’s very difficult to see what the relationship is reflecting back about you.

The Mirror Method turns your attention towards the reactions, assumptions, patterns and old hurt you actually have the power to work with.

Taking responsibility for those things doesn’t make everything your fault.

It lets you see the part of the dynamic that changes when you do.

I didn’t create this as a theory. I lived it in my own marriage first.

“A single question Marta asked was enough to shift the entire pattern that had been damaging my relationship.”

“I must thank you for our last session. It marked a real turning point for me.

For the past week, I’ve noticed a complete change in our dynamic. I feel a sense of lightness and consciously choose to act with maturity, while my husband has said he feels truly respected.

We went for a walk together and, for the first time in a long while, we really saw each other.

We’re heading away for the weekend, and my intention is to experience joy, lightness and contentment in our time together, and to create shared memories.”

Something needs to be said.

Before, you’d rehearse it for days, brace for their reaction, then watch it spiral anyway.

Now, you recognise the pattern before it takes over. You say what needs to be said without losing yourself inside their response. You may still disagree, but it doesn’t ruin the evening.

And afterwards, there is something you haven’t felt for a long time.

You’re proud of how you handled that.

Then there are the smaller things. The things nobody puts on a vision board because they seem almost too ordinary to mention.

He walks past you in the kitchen and touches your back. You catch each other’s eye over something one of the children says and both start laughing.

You sit down for dinner, and nobody is measuring the mood before deciding whether it’s safe to speak.

You reach for each other on the sofa.

You ask about his day because you’re actually curious again.

He looks at you and you feel seen.

Sex stops feeling like something you should be having to prove the marriage is okay.

You actually want each other again.

Sunday morning the two of you have coffee together.

No phones.

No agenda.

No relationship summit.

Just the person you chose sitting beside you, and the beautiful realisation that you like being here together again.

Sometimes the transformation looks this ordinary.

“For the first time in a long time, it didn’t feel like I was hoping we would find our way back. It felt like we already had.”

“On Saturday, we went for a walk with our girls. They were riding their scooters just ahead of us when my husband reached for my hand.

As we walked behind them, hand in hand, watching our girls together, I had this moment of realisation:

This is what I’ve been waiting for.

Nothing big happened. No grand gesture. It was simply us again. But this time, it felt different. Because I wasn’t just looking at what we had lost. I could see what we were rebuilding.

I could see our future.

The two of us, together, watching our girls grow up. Being a family. Choosing each other and the life we still want to create together.”

Saving the marriage was never the whole vision

You want to create something your children grow up believing is possible.

A relationship where love isn’t something they have to assume is there.

They see it.

In the laughter.

The affection.

The way Mum and Dad speak to each other.

The way home feels.

That’s the legacy.

Not simply that you stayed together.

That you created something beautiful while you were here.

Back to us

A private 12-week relationship transformation for ambitious people who still believe in what their relationship can become and are ready to take responsibility for the part they can influence.

This work begins with the individual.

Even when you enter as a couple, I work with each of you separately first.

There is a reason for that.

Because it’s difficult to look honestly at the version of yourself who becomes defensive, withdrawn, reactive or desperate to be understood while the person who triggers those reactions is sitting directly opposite you.

Individual work gives us room to see what is actually happening.

Without another battle. Without building a case against your partner.

Without turning the session into another place where somebody has to win.

We understand what happens before the argument becomes an argument.

Then, when the foundations are there and both partners are ready, I bring you back into the room together.

Now there is something different to work with.

The work moves through three stages.

Stage 1: We uncover what’s actually creating the crisis.

Not only what you’re arguing about.

We look underneath the communication problems, distance, resentment or loss of intimacy and begin understanding what is creating them.

What has been building.

What keeps getting triggered.

What each of you has learned to expect from the other.

What you’re carrying into today’s relationship from yesterday’s hurt.

Because when you understand what you’re actually dealing with, you stop trying to solve the wrong problem.

Stage 2: We change the patterns that keep pulling you back.

By this point, you can begin to see what was previously happening too quickly to notice.

The trigger.

The assumption.

The reaction.

The familiar thing you do next.

We work with the behaviours, beliefs, personality patterns and old responses that keep recreating the dynamic you came here to change.

Because awareness isn’t about finding another reason to blame yourself.

It’s the moment you begin to notice the reaction before it gets to make the decision for you.

Stage 3: We create the relationship you want to live inside.

How do you want it to feel to be the two of you five, ten or twenty years from now?

What does affection look like?

What happens when you disagree?

What do ordinary Sundays feel like?

What are you building together?

At this point, the work becomes bigger than fixing what went wrong.

You’re consciously creating what comes next.

A relationship that supports the life you’re building.

A home you want to return to.

The masterpiece you’re both proud to have created.

“I came to Marta desperately wanting my old marriage back. What I didn’t expect was that we would build something stronger than what we had before.”

“I reached out to Marta during one of the lowest points of my life. My husband had discovered my infidelity. I felt awful, ashamed and almost unforgivable. I remember looking at him and thinking I had destroyed everything we had built together.

I was desperate to save my marriage, but there was one question I couldn’t answer:

Why had I risked something so important to me in the first place?

Working with Marta took me much deeper than I expected. I began to see how experiences from my past had shaped my low self-worth and how much I had been looking outside myself for the validation I didn’t know how to give myself.

That was a huge turning point.

I stopped seeing the affair only as the problem and started understanding what within me had made this choice.

When we were ready, my husband joined me for sessions with Marta. Those conversations weren’t always easy, but slowly, things began to change.

Today, we’re closer, honest and more connected.

But the biggest change isn’t only in our marriage, it’s in me.

I know what I want to bring into our relationship, what kind of wife and partner I want to be, and what it takes from both of us to create a marriage where we are happy together.”

This work cannot control your partner’s choices.

It gives you the opportunity to understand your own patterns, change what you bring into the relationship and become clear about what you want to create from here.

If this sounds familiar, it’s time to reclaim control of your relationship’s destiny and reignite the flame of love and connection.

“Now, both my husband and I are filled with happiness once more, falling in love with each other gain”

“After almost two decades of marriage and raising two teenage sons, my husband and I found ourselves trapped in a cycle of ongoing misunderstanding, frustration, defensive behavior and indifference

A

We questioned whether our marriage was worth continuing, as the toll of our dysfunctional behaviour was affecting our boys.

Having previously sought marriage counselling without fully addressing our core issues, we turned to Marta with mixed feelings.

Marta’s methods were unlike anything we had experienced before in traditional couples therapy. I was amazed how many times we experienced ‘light bulb’ moments, where things suddenly made sense, showing us the path to heal our relationship.

We discovered the reasons behind our actions and reactions, which helped us understand the previously obscured dynamics within our marriage.

Now, both my husband and I are filled with happiness once more, falling in love with each other again.

We talk.

We laugh.

We listen to each other.

We make more exciting plans for our future.

But the most rewarding part is witnessing the joy on our children’s faces again.”

You don’t have to know exactly what your marriage will look like on the other side of this.

You only need to know you’re no longer willing to keep creating the same version.

If there’s still something between you that you believe is worth showing up for, we start there.

Let’s begin creating a relationship you’re proud to live inside.
